Tested by Warren Rossiter, BikeRadar’s senior technical editor, the gravel race bike was praised for its low weight, sharp handling and smooth, compliant ride. Despite its aerodynamic design and race-focused geometry, Rossiter found that the Revolt retained the versatility that has long defined the range. BikeRadar praised its “exciting ride that blends great handling, low weight, and compliant comfort.”
Lighter, faster and more race focused
The Revolt Advanced SL was developed as a complete performance system, bringing together the frame, fork, cockpit, wheels and tyres. Its Advanced SL composite frame and fork, integrated cockpit, lighter WheelSystem and 45mm CADEX GXR tyres contribute to a total system weight saving of 288g compared with the previous-generation Revolt Advanced Pro. BikeRadar’s size-large test bike weighed 7.62kg. Rossiter found that this low weight helped it accelerate quickly, climb efficiently and move easily over obstacles, combining road-bike responsiveness with agile handling on technical terrain.
Fast wherever you ride
AeroSystem Shaping is applied across the frame, fork and cockpit. Combined with the WheelSystem and tyres, Giant’s testing shows a total resistance reduction of 18.99 watts compared with the previous-generation Revolt Advanced Pro. BikeRadar found the Revolt fast and responsive across gravel, technical trails and tarmac. Rossiter concluded that, with road tyres or a second set of wheels, he would happily use the Revolt Advanced SL 0 for all his drop-bar riding.
Sharp and confident handling
Updated, race-tuned geometry gives the Revolt a longer reach and lower stack, creating a more aerodynamic position while maintaining control on loose and technical terrain. BikeRadar found it agile over obstacles and composed at higher speeds. The one-piece Contact SLR XR integrated handlebar was also praised. Its size-specific width balances aerodynamic performance with control, while a subtle flare adds stability on technical terrain.
Smooth over rough terrain
BikeRadar identified the Revolt Advanced SL 0’s ride quality as one of its standout characteristics. Despite its low weight and race-focused design, it remained impressively compliant across rough surfaces. Giant’s D-Fuse composite seatpost helps dampen vibrations and absorb shock, allowing the Revolt to tackle steep gravel roads and technical trails without feeling unnecessarily harsh. BikeRadar also praised the CADEX Amp saddle and the overall quality of the bike’s contact points.
Premium CADEX performance
The Revolt features the CADEX MAX GXR WheelSystem, combining 50mm-deep carbon rims, bladed carbon spokes and integrated hub construction. BikeRadar recorded the wheels at 1,320g and found that their low rotating weight contributed to the bike’s lively acceleration, climbing ability and agile handling. They are paired with 45mm CADEX GXR tubeless tyres featuring a supple 170 TPI casing. BikeRadar found them particularly effective in dry conditions, rolling quickly on both gravel and tarmac.
Ready for varied terrain
Maximum tyre clearance has increased to 53mm, allowing larger-volume tyres for rougher courses and more technical terrain. The frame also features a Universal Derailleur Hanger, while fittings for a top-tube or frame bag provide carrying options for training and racing. SRAM RED XPLR AXS electronic shifting and a power meter-equipped crankset complete the build, providing the performance and range required for fast gravel roads and steep climbs.
An accomplished all-round gravel racer
BikeRadar concluded that the Revolt Advanced SL 0 has elevated an already proven, Bike of the Year-winning platform. It is lighter, faster and more race focused, yet retains the versatility sometimes missing from dedicated aero gravel bikes.
